Students in Stage 2 and 3 had a great day at Warrawong High School on Tuesday for the 'kids teaching kids day'. Check out some of the fun from the day.
Year 6 have been working on a 'genius hour' project throughout term 1. Students were given the task of creating a researched based project in their genius hour once a week. They decided on their topics and how they would present their research findings. Some presented theirs through a slideshow and others on cardboard. There were a range a topics covered, including; turtles, cars, oceans, starfish, social media, athletics and others. Today parents and students walked through the various presentations in the hall. Well done, Year 6
A very proud day at Port Kembla Public School today, one of our very special Year 5 students bravely shaved her hair off to raise money and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation. Not many people would do what Maggie has done today, it is a very big decision for a young lady to make. We are glad that you made this selfless decision and not only raised money for a great cause, but also brought about awareness for a terrible and devastating disease. Students wore mufti clothes and donated a gold coin for the cause in support of Maggie. We are certainly very proud of you Maggie!!! A special thank you to hairdresser Sandra for doing a great job with the big shave.

On Tuesday 21st March, students celebrated Harmony Day at PKPS. They participated in various activities and wore orange clothes to mark the special day. A great day was had by all and a special thank you to Mrs K for organising such a wonderful day for our students. Please find below a selection of photos from the day.
Students in Room 7 have been busy presenting their projects and class projects this week. Students worked over the holidays to create a project and speech about a country of their choice from Asia, Africa or South America. Students learned about these areas in Geography last term. All students who presented this week did a terrific job. We all enjoyed learning interesting facts about a variety of countries from around the world. Some students chose to complete a Google Slide and others made a poster on cardboard. I am very proud of everyone's efforts with both their speech and project. Jasmine made students a traditional Malagasy dish and dressed in African attire during her presentation. Students enjoyed the dish so much, they requested a copy of the recipe to take home and ask their parents to make it for them. Great job Room 7!!!
Room 7 have been studying Africa and South America in Geography with Mrs K. Students are now working on an in class project researching a country from Africa or South America and presenting an information poster on the country. Students have researched their country and have taken notes in order to create their poster. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their researching skills for their prepared speech and project that they are working on at home. In art students created an African sunset safari.
Year 3 had a visit to the Life Education van yesterday. Some of the things they learned about were; what it is that makes a good friend, things that end up in our blood system, the digestive system and how we are all unique and special. Students had a chance to say hello to Happy Harold and two students had the chance to give Harold a kiss and cuddle. We learned Harold's favourite dance and had a disco at the end of our lesson.
Students in Room 7 maths groups have been busy collecting data and making graphs. Today we played games to further develop our fractions skills.
Congratulations to all the Bronze and Silver award winners from Friday's assembly! Awesome work Room 7!
