Last Wednesday PKPS celebrated Book Week. Students enjoyed working with their buddy classes to read books and create a treasure chest of their treasured moments from the books they read. Students in K-2 enjoyed a special visit from Warrawong library and the whole school dressed up and participated in our Book Week parade. We also listened to a fantastic reader's theatre play from our library monitors. Thank you to everyone for dressing up and to all the parents for their efforts. Everyone looked amazing! A special thank you to Mrs Boyton for organising such a wonderful day.
Last Thursday students participated in a fun filled day full of Easter crafts, hat making, picnic lunch with family, the Easter hat parade and a huge Easter raffle. A special thanks to Mrs Regner and Miss McShane for organising such a great day for our students.
On Friday 23rd March, students at PKPS celebrated Harmony Day by wearing orange (the official colour for Harmony Day) and participating in rotational activities where they learned about other cultures. Some students painted Japanese cherry blossoms, made Chinese dragons, learned how to make origami, decorated Mexican sugar candy skulls, designed henna hands, made kites, sang songs and learned sign language, learned how to introduce themselves in Maori, used Maroi Poi, played games and much more. Thank you to everyone involved in making the day possible. Please see below for a selection of photos from the day.
This morning, 'Makukuhan' visited the school as part of the Musica Viva program. The students enjoyed the performance of traditional Indonesian music which included the use of Indonesian instruments and dance.
We had the best day at our first ever colour run. The students completed a course filled with obstacles, activities, water pistols, coloured powder and bubbles. At the conclusion of the course students enjoyed a disco dance party and throwing their very own packets of colour on themselves, their friends and even the teachers. A very big thank you to our wonderful P & C and parent volunteers for organising and running such a fun event for our students. Please see below for a selection of photos from the day.
Today students celebrated Book Week by dressing up as their favourite book character and participated in a book week parade to show off their costumes. They all looked fantastic! K-2 students were entertained by staff from Warrawong library and listened to stories and enjoyed a little show. A very big thank you to Mrs Boyton our wonderful librarian for organising such a great day today. Without all her efforts and organising, today would not have been able to go ahead. A big thank you also to Warrawong library staff for their visit and to the parents for their efforts in creating wonderful costumes for their children.
This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC at PKPS. We started the week with a flag raising ceremony, acknowledgement or country and our fabulous choir singing the National Anthem in Dharawal language. Classes have been learning about NAIDOC week and this year's theme 'Our Languages Matter'. We have visited the beach and heard the Aboriginal dreaming story of the Five Islands (Oola-boola-woo) and drew traditional Aboriginal symbols in the sand to create art and tell stories. Below are some photos of the week so far, more photos will be added throughout the week (watch this space).
